Happy weekend y’all!
For those of you who are new here, S33DS is our weekly 2-minute newsletter about building the tools and awareness to live a more fulfilling life.
Today, let’s talk about what it takes to start getting back into shape.
Simple Problem
In today’s world, it is easier than ever to succumb to unhealthy habits.
From the tips of our fingers, we can order take-out from our phone… We can drive everywhere (or call an Uber)… We have access to desserts, fast-food, and candy on virtually every street corner.…
So how can you finally get back in shape and beat the odds?
3 Actionable Solutions
Be mindful of who you spend time with the most and start hanging out with healthier people. Your environment has a huge impact over your habits, motivation and discipline.
Pick a sport you ACTUALLY enjoy, where the hard work doesn’t really feel like hard work.
Build one new healthy habit that you will stick to and will be a non-negotiable for you.
3 Simple First Steps
*Each first step is directly related to its own actionable solution (matching number)*
Connect with some of your acquaintances who live a healthier lifestyle. Progressively change your circle and surround yourself with people who inspire you to be more active and healthy.
Reach out to a league or a team to join them. If you know someone whose sport looks fun, ask them to get you in.
Decide on a new healthy habit, or “personal rule” if you will, that is now going to be part of your life. Keep it simple. Some examples: Drinking only low-calories beverages, going on daily walks, always taking the stairs, having a healthy breakfast everyday, no binge-eating or snacks after 8pm, etc. Just pick something that is realistic for you!
Dare of the Week
This week’s challenge is to not drink any alcohol.
There’s nothing wrong with drinking with moderation, don’t get me wrong. But alcohol is not only unhealhty nutrition-wise, it’s also affecting your mood and productivity over the following days of drinking. We can all benefit from better sleep, less bloating, and more energy.
🫵 We’d love to see you complete your challenge! Share your selfie with your non-alcoholic beverage on instagram with the hashtag #DareOfTheWeek, and make sure to tag @sprouht
Simple Advice
The biggest mistake we tend to make when tackling a new goal in life is trying to do it all on day 1.
If you haven’t been active in a long time, and it is not part of your habits, don’t suddenly try going to the gym 6x/week! This is exactly how people get discouraged and give up. Too much all at once.
Start small, then build up over time. If you’re just getting back in shape, start by going to the gym 2 times per week on the first month. Then, consider increasing the frequency to 3x/week on the following month ONLY IF you’ve stuck to the habit all throughout month 1. Simple steps, right?
You got this!
It’s A Mindset.
