Hey fam!
Good news: Seeds of Success is back for good. Itâs been almost a year since weâve posted and there are plenty of new faces here, so for those of you who donât know, Seeds of Success is our weekly, 2min newsletter about exploring what it takes to live a more fulfilling life.
Weâll be sending it out every Saturday at 9:00 am EST⊠and by we, I mean me - Simon! Iâm the newest contributor for Sprouht. Iâm based in Montreal and, at 22 years old, I recently quit my job to focus on my own business. Iâve been passionate about self growth for years and Iâm grateful for this chance to contribute to Sprouhtâs mission.
Great to meet you all.
Ready for todayâs read?
Letâs dive in.
Are You Feeling Lost?
Itâs not your fault.Â
For most of us, we go through life following the classic 21st-century path: go to college, get good grades, find a stable 9 to 5, build a family, maybe take a few vacations, and retire. Everybody tells us what to do, what to think, and what we âshould wantâ in life.Â
We are so caught up in our fast-paced lifestyle that we donât ever take the time to ask ourselves about what we really want out of life and how we plan on getting there.
So how can we tackle these important questions?
Introducing: Journaling
Whether youâve been following Sprouht for years, or only a few weeks⊠You know weâre huge fans of journaling.Â
Why?
Because journaling can help us:
Gain clarity and perspective on our thoughts and emotions
Achieve our goals by tracking progress
Better understand ourselves and our experiences
Cope with anxiety and depression
Process and let go of worries and fears
Improve immune system function and reduce stress levels
Get better sleep quality and improved overall health.
According to Will, journaling single-handedly changed his life for the better. It helped him learn about himself, which lead him to be able to say no to a $100K job that wouldnât have fulfilled him, and start his dream business instead!
So how can YOU get started?
It doesnât have to be complicated.Â
Set aside a regular time and place for writing. Choose a format that works for you, whether it's a traditional pen-and-paper journal, a digital document, or an app (I recommend Notion for this). I personally prefer writing in a physical journal because itâs better for information retention.Â
Try using prompts or exercises, such as:
-Writing about your goalsÂ
-Reflecting on a recent experience
-Listing things you're grateful for.
(by the way.. here are 75 journal prompts for self-discovery, to get you started)
In fact, if you want to see what 7 days of journaling can do for you, weâve built a free little PDF challenge that you can access here.
So, the bottom line is⊠journaling is a simple habit (almost too simple!), but yet is an extremely powerful tool to get to know yourself better and improve your life.
Itâs okay if youâre not consistent at first. This habit is still a work in progress in my own self growth journey. The important thing is to get started, and keep working on it!
And that, my friends, is a mindset.
Have a great day.
